| Venerable Bhante Dhammajiva's visit - April 2010 Dear Devotees, Below please find the summary of activities during Venerable Bhante Dhammajiva's visit in April 2010 at the Florida Buddhist Vihara: ------- Tuesday, April 6th to Thursday, April 8th 2010 Each day, from 9am to 1pm - "Open Dhamma house". Opportunity for anyone to privately consult with Venerable Dhammajiva. ------- Friday, April 9th - Full Day Meditation Retreat (9:30am - 8:30pm). Anyone is welcome to join. The retreat day will start officially at 9:30 but we recommend that you try to come a little earlier. Bhante Dhammajiva will guide you through the day giving meditation instructions, answering questions and giving Dhamma talks during the day. The program will end on Friday with the regular chanting and Dhamma talk (7:30-8:30pm). Saturday, April 10th - Second Full Day Meditation retreat (9:30am - 4pm). Also starts at 9:30 and will be guided by Bhante Dhammajiva. The Saturday retreat will end at 4pm. At that point the Kid's Dhamma school will join the Bhante Dhammajiva for a meditation/dhamma class. This will be a great opportunity if you have children to join from 4pm to 6pm. *On both retreat days Sri Lankan food will be offered for a small donation or simply bring your own meal.

Venerable Uda Iriyagama Dhammajiva is currently the Pradhana Kammattanacarya (senior meditation teacher) of Meetirigala Nissarana Vanaya, a monastery in the strict forest tradition in Sri Lanka.
Ven. Dhammajeewa received his initial training under Ven. Matara Sri Ñaṇanarama [link], one of the most influential figures in Buddhist meditation practice in Sri Lanka. He also spent several years training under Sayadaw U. Panditabhiwansa in Myanmar (Burma). Ven.
